This! So much this! I change how I collect depending on the overall market. Hype market=singles and focusing on where the hype isnt. Normal market= a mix of singles and packs to chase cards. Down/crash: endless pack rips and buying master sets. Saves me a lot of money and headache.

it sucks, scalpers have changed the mentality of collectors so that when we see cards available to buy, we feel forced into buying them because we don’t know when the next ones we find are.

Bulk is the best! Love hunting down sowsow, cards with flowers, Tangela, bellibolt, cameos, spirit links, and fairy cards! Also sometimes you find gems!! Like this guy that I found for $1!

I would also consider collecting cards that are not NM. can save 50% or more on the market price of a NM card by getting it in MP

If you play the actual video games, I think getting into shiny hunting, could be a great tip as well! Finding a shiny can definitely give the same feeling as finding a chase card

Spent like two hours at a card shop looking through bulk today and it was amazing. First time going to one. We spent less than an ETB and came away with the most amazing fun cards.

I started collecting again two month ago and i do love opening boosters but its so expensive. Trying to hold off rn and started a binder (my first ever) of artists, favorite Pokemon and building themed pages around thing i love (surfing, books etc.). My favorite pages are the „What Pokemon would this character have on their team“ pages - Rapunzel, Moana, Draco Malfoy and counting. Really really fun activity
