Father Of Man Who K*lled Cops Retaliated Against With Bogus Gun Charge SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The father of a man whose police officer son was shot and killed broke his silence on the shooting in Onondaga County Court on Tuesday. His words came after the sentencing of Joseph Murphy, who is the father of Christopher Murphy, the man who fatally shot Syracuse Police Officer Michael Jensen and Onondaga County Sheriff's Lieutenant Michael Hoosock on April 14, 2024, in the Town of Salina. Joseph Murphy pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a weapon on April 23. He will serve weekends at the Jamesville Correctional Facility until Nov. 1 from 5 p.m. on Fridays to 5 p.m. on Sundays. His sentencing officially starts on July 3. He will need to wear an ankle monitor as part of his sentencing. Joseph Murphy was arrested in August 2024 in an investigation into firearms being taken from the Murphy household following the fatal shootings. He was 61-years-old at the time. Prosecutors said that his taking of a long gun from the home was a violation of the Secure Ammunition & Firearms Enforcement Act. Paul Jensen, Officer Jensen's father, spoke after the sentencing. He called the night that his son was shot and killed the worst night of his life. He said he was playing cards with his friends when he received a phone call from his son's friends, who informed him that his son was shot.

"I remember getting out of my seat, grabbing the closest friend to me, and getting on the thruway westbound toward Syracuse," said Paul Jensen. "The uncertainty of all made me uneasy, so I called Michael's friends multiple times to get updates, but they had no answers themselves. As they entered the city and an accident on Adams Street, the street was flooded with police, ambulances and officers from numerous departments." #truecrime #news #police
