The USA method is just FOIL, though it's used for multiplying binomial (x+1)² rather than numbers. The Japan method is just PEMDAS. Both work. Both are correct.

On the USA part you got the final answer correct but one of your additions was wrong. 25 +15 equals 45, instead of 40 but then you did the 55 +9 part correctly
