Sassy is another popular descriptor among zookeepers for the 4-month-old, who will make her first formal public appearance at the Highland Park facility on Monday. Coinciding with World Lion Day, the zoo will also reveal her permanent name, selected after a call for public submissions that raised $5,705, to help support care of the lions and other animals. Last week, the keepers let the cub loose outdoors for the first time in small doses, readying the young feline for Monday’s formal public appearance. And she's more than cute. Her birth adds to the genetic diversity of African lions, which are diminishing in the wild.
