There are few even zero cases where civilians have been successfully charged and sentenced on treason charges. Most successful prosecution involves military men because they are usually in a better position to carry out such acts. It will be interesting to see how the state intends to prove their case because most of the evidence produced so far shows intent and not necessarily the act of treason.
