Hospitals across Nepal have the capacity to store only 300 to 350 bodies in deep-freezer facilities nationwide. But more than 900 have lost their life and since its been many days the dead body will decay and might cause different disease. So to stop that they did DNA and buried it and whenever Someone find their love ones then can go they’re and give condolence

I believe they are handling this situation as best as what they can, with what they have available, paying the most respect to the victims and families and giving the families time to identify and decide how to proceed. I hope these workers receive trauma counseling in future. Prayers for everyone involved.

they re dna sampled, numbered and temporarily covered under ground (as per international practice norms during such disasters) as bodies are starting to decay and we do not have sufficiet storage facilities available.. not mass graves

hopefully in the future there will be a technology that can alarm the nearby villagers about the incoming floods 24/7

Being Nepal is not a rich country but they are doing what they can. Organizing and managing DNA samples and burying those of bodies already decaying/rotting that can lead to disease outbreak. They are handling this with so much grief and trauma and my prayers are with Nepal. I hope they find more survivors and the bodies of those who died in the tragedy so they can be laid to rest and families find closure.

Nepal is following field-level operations aligned with the guidelines laid out in the ICRC/WHO Field Manual for First Responders on the Management of Dead Bodies after Disasters. This is a temporary individual burial plot. These are not the final rites for those unidentified bodies. The bodies can be recovered even after 12 years (that's what Nepalese law says) though they might not be intact as in their original form, but they are not lost. Yes, it is creating controversy, but it's the only way we can manage this huge loss of life in such a short time. Many people, myself included, support this approach.
