I don't think people would have as much of an issue with the cameras if it weren't for the fact that so many police have effectively unregulated access to the data. There have already been multiple instances of police stalking former romantic partners or other individuals because they could just access the cameras whenever they want to. If there was an effective system in place to prevent access without cause which also logs who is accessing the system, people probably wouldn't have as big of an issue with these. However, I think these cameras are also blatantly showing a larger issue which is how often police use their resources to stalk and harass individuals for various reasons. I had a friend whose father was a cop, and he told her she was never allowed to date cops because of this problem. It has been a known issue for decades and one that has basically been ignored.
