@mikko.vegasrealtor: Want to pay off your mortgage faster without making a huge extra payment every month? ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿก One strategy is to make an extra principal payment throughout the year. Even small additional payments can help reduce the amount of interest you pay over the life of your loan. The key: make sure the extra payment is applied to your principal. I donโ€™t see where me paying an extra $129 will cut my mortgage by half. My payments are $752 a month

But you never really own it. You will continue to rent it from the government in form of taxes.

Thank you for your advice. you said to make 15 payment and each payment go to the principal. What about the ones who got their escrows (Tax+homeowner INS) adding to their mortgage ??? by dividing monthly payment by 15 ... who 's going to pay the bank that prepaid your tax and Homeowner Insurance. ????

Or you could sign a 15 year mortgage. Those always pay off in 15 years.

If that equal $300 per month could I just drop 4k per year? Would that have the same effect?

Donโ€™t listen to this. Invest that money elsewhere. Paying off a house is overrated. Especially if you have a 3% interest rate like myself.

Who can make an extra mortgage payment every month. They act like you could pay it off in 15 years. You would need to make a lot of extra money to do this. If you can do this you why have a mortgage

Factor in PiTI (principal interest taxes & insurance) then divide the total payment by 12 (one year) and thatโ€™s the amount you pay to the principal
