I think once you realize that in any given moment, having a man in your life is actually not that fun, it’s easier to get past it. Like right before bedtime when I’m laying in bed and all I want to do is be cozy and fall asleep, I would think “Do I want man here right now? Trying to force me to have sex with him, when I could just be comfy instead?” And the answer was always no. And I did that with every situation, “Do I want a man leaving all the dishes in the sink dirty? Do I want a man trying to make me feel guilty for resting in my bed or the couch? Do I want a man asking me what’s for dinner?” And the answer was ALWAYS NO. What you want is a fairy tale that just isn’t reality, unfortunately.
