Barnet Hill Academy is due to become a taxpayer-funded voluntary aided school on September 1, with secularists objecting to the fact that girls from the age of seven must cover their hair. Barnet Hill Academy in London is moving from being a fee-paying Islamic school into the state-funded education system from September 1, 2026, following approval from Barnet Council. The school’s own uniform policy makes a white hijab compulsory for girls in Years 3 and 4, meaning the requirement begins at around the age of seven.
