@chrisysohtq: London council moves Islamic school with ‘compulsory’ hijab rule into state sector Barnet Council has approved the transfer of an independent Islamic primary school into England’s state-funded education system, giving the north London borough its first council-maintained Muslim faith school. Barnet Hill Academy is due to become a taxpayer-funded voluntary aided school on September 1, with secularists objecting to the fact that girls from the age of seven must cover their hair. Barnet Hill Academy in London is moving from being a fee-paying Islamic school into the state-funded education system from September 1, 2026, following approval from Barnet Council. The school’s own uniform policy makes a white hijab compulsory for girls in Years 3 and 4, meaning the requirement begins at around the age of seven. The school’s faith-based admissions arrangements can also give Muslim children priority when places are oversubscribed. @GB News @Reform UK
