@jillbrownfitness: The LIFTMOR study is everywhere right now — heavy lifting improved bone density in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis. It's real research and it worked. But they screened out 305 of 406 women. Only the healthiest 18% got in. Excluded: metal implants, recent surgery, musculoskeletal conditions. Hip replacements, spinal hardware, arthritis, disc issues. Like mine. I'd have been cut day one. Bone does need heavier loading — but barbells aren't the only way, and heavy carries real spinal risk. It depends on your body, not a viral post. #bonedensity #osteoporosis #menopausefitness #over50fitness #strengthtrainingover50
Im a 64 yo female and have psoriatic arthritis. Its spreading to my shoulder and knee. I’m short, 5’ and want to preserve my muscle, I can lift 10-15# weights (3 sets 12-15 reps) for 3-4 different upper body w/o but the next day my shoulder is really sore. Advice?
