I think we need to be careful about making definitive claims about someone’s feelings and intentions based on generalized rules. Not responding for a week doesn’t establish that someone has moved on, and even if someone has moved on permanently, that doesn’t mean the relationship never mattered to them. We can’t reliably predict someone’s future decisions from a few data points, nor can we determine the meaning of their past feelings from whether they return. Rather than getting caught up in trying to decode someone else’s behavior, I think we should focus on stewarding what we’ve been given and trusting Christ with what we cannot control. 🙏
