Absolutely, I'm not a massive fan of salmon oil for several reasons and have spoken on this multiple times. If not stored correctly or if air has hit the oil itself, it will goes rancid and it's not well known unfortunately. Always buy in small bottle directly from the supplier and store in a cold/dark cupboard and you should be ok.

Did you mention the different bottle & label to them.? You didn't actually mention if the ferrets liked the product from the bottle they sent you directly.? I'd say the second & third bottle mentioned here are knock-off's / not the original.

they are very careful of what they eat if not feed it before 6 months old, this is due to them learning what is safe to eat from their parents. so if you introduce something new or slightly different they treat it like it's poison.

In my experience ferrets are also very picky, if literally anything changes in my ferrets diet the won’t touch it. Different types of treats? No way. Same treats different packaging? Nope

My ferrets remi never liked any salmon oil. I got pampered ferret salmon oil and now he likes salmon oil. here is a photo of it.

apparently you have to be careful of ordering treats off amazon they look like the same brand but when it comes it's a copy, my sister works at a kennals and they said a few dogs have had a bad reaction to there regular treats what have been brought off of amazon but when they buy them from the store they've been fine

Not salmon oil but we received a package of knock off Purina probiotics from Amazon. Looked EXACTLY the same but a slightly lighter color lettering on the package. Got a new package from the local pet store and the problem resolved itself. I no longer buy supplements off amazon.

just feed a variety of food. kept ferrets for over 35years, eggs raw meat. its not complicated.

That's quite a weird one. I used to get that salmon oil but switched a while back to the Posh Pooch, ferrets and dogs love it and haven't had an issue in the 3+ years of using it.
