seems like the course is to blame...shouldn't it be closed for a tournament?

It’s not like high schools can just have their own golf course. Be kind and be a positive contributor to the growth of the game. I’m sure the course could refund your money if you don’t have time to wait. Kudos to the course for supporting girls in golf!

it's frustrating I know but let the kids learn. chalk it up to a bad day. let the clubhouse know and maybe you'll get comped

I have been at those tournaments - I have been at 7+ hour hs golf tournaments. Don’t be that guy. Encourage the love of the game.

Most HS golfers are horrific as they do it to get out of school or hang with friends, pretty standard

If you say, “I’m not trying to be a jerk” … probably because it comes naturally.

High school tournaments are the worst 6+ hour rounds. But…. That’s how these kids learn all the things so maybe don’t book a tee time right behind any HS tournament everrrrr. Chill out homie. Pretend it’s your kid.

Bro you weren’t good when you were first on the course either. With your theory no one would ever get better at golf. Sure the range helps but until every swing matters. you won’t get much better without being on the course.

Have you ever played in a tournament? Maybe the course shouldn’t have agreed to open the course to the public after agreeing to hold the tournament there

Yuck. Maybe this is the first time they have played a tournament, and good for them! High school should be where you can try new things.

Naw. He's right. All for kids learning, sharing the course, even going slower. But we have several high school teams at our local munis... they absolutely act like they own the course. The deal is they play for free, and are supposed to let gofers play through. I've never once been allowed to play through. They will literally get in large groups and shut down entire greens and use them as practice sessions, and your choices become skip the hole, wait half an hour, or I guess fight them(satire). Tournaments are even worse, because it's no longer just kids... there's parents and coaches watching and supporting them do this. And typically they are either playing for free or discounted, so the courses will book around them tightly to try and still make money.

Golf course should have blocked off more tee times or warned you. Go back to the shop and ask for a refund and just leave.

The tournaments are part of their learning experience. The teams have multiple groups so the top group is probably playing better than you but the bottom groups are more than likely new to the game. Also they have to walk so being new and walking the course is tough.
