You will run into problems with ping and tracert if ICMP is blocked. Assuming you’re running Windows servers and have not enabled ICMP, Windows Firewall blocks it by default. Your internal servers may not respond to ping or tracert. Not sure about Linux.

i would actually recommend installing bind-tools and using dig instead of nslookup. dig is way more powerful.
