@priscilla_diaries: Another day, another Atlanta fact I somehow didn’t know. Flock Safety started because its CEO wanted to solve/deter the car break-ins 😂

Atlanta was already the most surveilled city in the country by camera number per capita. We have 1 camera per 8 people. ONE CAMERA PER EIGHT PEOPLE.

I’m walking distance to his house. We have other issues, but he wasn’t having that many break-ins at HIS home. Buckhead Bar crime? Absolutely. Break-ins in his area. Ehh.

Cameras good. Cops that misuse cameras bad.

He went to Westminster and GT. He is v much sheltered in his understanding of ATL, surveillance, and “good” cops. My SIL was one of the first employees and was still a “security company”

bold of them to assume more cameras will convince APD to do their job

Yeah, so instead of putting the cameras in the street why aren’t they in parking garages or where parking is being done at y’all have the cameras everywhere else

This is it! Had my car broken into many times. That doesn’t make me want to breach everyone’s 4th amendment rights.

Meanwhile, we need more people answering 911 in the city vs the AI / text I got when I saw an accident happen on 85

Thank the Fulton County Judicial system. One guy has over 60 arrest cycles for car breakins. They just let them right back out. They don't show up to court, and nothing happens. No wonder insurance costs are so high.

With great power comes great responsibility. No one had a big issue when it was purely event triggered (something happens and then the cameras are used to figure out what and who). However, the first time they were used to look for patterns without an event, their cost on our liberty made them no longer worth it.
