@rootsandresilienceuk: Prepare Before Everyone Panics UK Government Preparedness Campaign 2026 The UK Government is telling households to prepare for disruption and emergencies. Not panic. Prepare. Because once everyone wants the same food, water, batteries and supplies at the same time, you’re already late. Official advice: gov.uk/prepare Long TikTok description The UK Government is actively encouraging households to become better prepared for emergencies and disruption. That can mean things like power cuts, water outages, severe weather, flooding, transport disruption, cyber incidents and situations where shops or normal services are affected. The message is not “panic”. The message is to prepare before everyone else panics. That means building up a few basics gradually while everything is still available and prices are normal. A little extra food. Some stored water. A torch. Spare batteries. A charged power bank. Basic first aid. Useful household supplies. A plan for what you would do if normal services stopped working for a few days. The Government’s own preparedness advice recommends keeping emergency supplies at home and specifically says you do not need to buy everything at once — you can build it up over time. That is the whole point. Preparedness is not clearing shelves. Preparedness is buying one extra thing when you shop, learning useful skills, storing what you use anyway and becoming a little less dependent on everything working perfectly every day.
