I’m 30 and like a lot of people were into all things whimsical long before it became a “trend.” Now people are trying to say it’s performative and police what is and isn’t whimsical, which defeats the whole point.

i once saw a video that compared the rise of wanting to be “whimsical” to the hippie movement in the 60s. I like to imagine that in times where everyone feels helpless especially with what we’ve been seeing in the news, people are desperately trying to be happy by participating in trend like this. Nothing wrong with it, i’m just sad that now the word “whimsy” and “whimsical” is a buzzword.

i have BEEN the colorful, “whimsical” girl so it SUCKS seeing it being “trendy” now. like, i got made fun of for making ecosystems in jars. i got made fun of for collecting rocks, bones and random dead things. i got made fun of for liking paranormal and “creepy” stuff. i got made fun of for loving nature, sharks, bugs, and dinosaurs. i got made fun of for playing with barbie’s, monster high dolls, and princesses well into my teen years and adulthood. now it feels like people are only interested in making money off of all of it. ALL of it. it just sucks.
