I was paycheck to paycheck as a E5..BAH didnt cover cost of living unless you wanted to live in a questionable area. Only got better when I made E6 and deployed then PCS'd overseas, its tough in CONUS everything is expensive and you really need to have a balanced budget to keep things incheck

I sent my daughter a photo of a LES of mine from when I was an E3 living off base. What I got with BAH was less than what she gets now with just her base pay. 😳

I don't know how I survived back then. We always had a wife of a military guy who'd babysit our baby to make some extra money. Jobs were HARD to come by.

I was an E5 in schofield barracks doing lyft to make extra cash and my wife worked as well. Will never understand how those with a spouse and kids were doing it

I’ve been in 8 years wife and three kids my wife doesn’t work I feel like we do fairly well obviously I’m not making crazy money but if you live smart and don’t fall into the trap of buying nice shit you can do it no problem

I look back and don’t know how I did it as a single mom. When I met my husband he was enlisted. So, again, how tf did we make it. Now, we make more and yea we have nice things but ummmmm we struggle 😳
