@samanthaleewarren: We’ve been taught to romanticize exhaustion in every context… Corporate burnout. Entrepreneur burnout. People don’t want to admit it’s the same exact problem. Why are we wearing burnout as a badge of honor? I think it’s because we were all sold this idea that sacrificing yourself was just part of becoming successful. For the promotion, the paycheck, the “dream” business that feels like a prison, the next revenue goal that somehow still leaves you feeling empty inside. The sentiment is the same: “Give more of yourself away and call it ambition.” I don’t believe that anymore. The more I’ve learned to genuinely love myself, the less impressed I am by anything that requires me to abandon myself to have it. I still want money. I still want expansion. I still want the beautiful life, the successful business, the ridiculous ideas, the freedom to go wherever the hell I want. Probably more than ever. But I want to actually be here for the life I’m creating.
