omg bruh every characterization of him is either the evil useless villain or the flamboyant sassy gay theater kid and i'm not against that last one but like. hes genuinely such a well written character and i desperately wish crisis core was written a little better or even just that any of the characters in it had more screentime before wutai 😭😭😭 we didnt even get to know genesis before he defected and it makes me so sad

Part of the issue with Genesis is the English translation did him genuinely so dirty (the CC English localization is notorious for having terrible translations, like Angeal's story in Wutai about the dumb apples, he says pride in the Japanese version and that's why it makes no sense with the honor being a burden bit) and it also does not help that people don't always talk to NPCs to see the fact that Genesis was actually highly respected and rather loved by lower ranking SOLDIERs which like... yeah no duh why else would he have a bunch of people leave with him 😭 Genesis is a sensitive topic for me I fear...

Thank you for this genuinely, he’s so much more complex than the fandom makes him out to be. It’s for this exact reason that I wish we would get more Genesis content from the canon source just so we can prove them wrong about him even more. He’s a great character that is overlooked far too often.
