The dynamics of parenting have to change. You have really brought to light how we are shaped as children affects us as adults. My husband literally did not know it was an option for him to say no to something. I have never seen a bigger people pleaser. He always said yes to me which was great at first. Then every decision became my job. Then I was expected to people please as well to appease his family. He was afraid if he said no or did what he wanted to, no one would like him. I encourage him to say no to me. It is such a task but he is doing better (he is 53!)

I am so grateful to social media therapists. you all have helped me so much to heal and be a more complete person. I don't see how there's anything unethical about that.

I’m 42 and a mom to twin 3 year olds. For 15 years before kids I was teaching mindfulness and yoga. 2 weeks after I gave birth my brother passed. I was disassociated the first year, angry the second and grieveing/accepting my third year. As I come out of a very dark place I have realized the only thing I can do is be there for other people and to continue to follow my passion of mental health. I’m especially drawn to helping women postpartum. ( and yes, the Lindsey Clancy trail feels beyond pivotal at this time in my life. )

I still vividly remember explaining to my mother when she was maybe 55-60 that she was ALLOWED to say no. People asked because she had a choice, and if she said no and I really really needed it, I would tell her that also. Her mind was blown 🤯 My poor mother, all the time not knowing she could be a good mom and still say no 🥺

I believe when people start to decide on their own what they think are good ethics and base rules, instead of blindly following what was given to them, then they finally fully learn what they studied for. And I'd say you're a good example for that :)
