Who watches this, finds out that police had zero consequences and finds that to be justifiable? Cameras have proven that police are never to be trusted.

The Austin Myers/Galileo Wise case in Boulder is wild. On June 5, 2025, 17-year-old Galileo Wise was riding his e-bike when Boulder police mistook him for a bank-robbery suspect and tackled him off the bike. The police radio description reportedly said the suspect was tan-skinned, wearing a lime-green shirt and clear glasses. Wise didn’t match that description; he was wearing a tan sweatshirt/teal pants, had no glasses, and was wearing a helmet. Body-cam footage shows officers stopping him while he was slowing down and raising his hands. He hit his head and suffered a concussion. The lawsuit alleges Officer Austin Myers then told Wise that the suspect was wearing tan and green clothing, was on a bike, and that the tracker in the stolen money had pinged at “pretty much your exact location,” even though the lawsuit says the tracker was essentially stationary at a nearby Starbucks while Wise was still riding. Myers allegedly gave similar information to Wise’s mother and father over the phone. The lawsuit also says officers later realized the robbery suspect may have been traveling by HOP bus because the tracker’s route matched the bus route. The actual robbery suspect was arrested about two hours later and reportedly looked nothing like Wise. Wise was detained for about 8 minutes, and Boulder’s own review found Sgt. Steven Faber wrongfully extended the detention after reasonable suspicion had dissipated, although the department exonerated Myers on the excessive-force allegation. Wise is suing Myers and Faber, alleging wrongful arrest and excessive force, seeking damages and officer retraining. The city says it won’t comment on pending litigation. So the court still has to decide the legal claims, but the body-cam footage and the department’s own finding about the extended detention are a huge part of why this case is getting attention.
