if I good remember the japanese Moon-jo wasn't supposed to be inspired on the k-drama but instead on the original webtoon, that's why the drama in overall feels a bit different in terms of the story as well as because japanese people tend to tone down the acting in horrors and focus on grotesque and obscurity which is very different from the acting we are used to in k-dramas, basically it's a cultural difference that gives the psychological horror a different kind of 'flavor' to it and I think we should approach it with this in mind. (of course everyone has their own opinions and we can respect that as well)
