Still have 300+ processes running before you even launch a game? Here’s one Windows setting most gamers never check. Modern Windows runs many system services in separate svchost.exe processes. This improves stability, but it also means you can end up with a huge number of processes running in the background. SvcHostSplitThresholdInKB changes when Windows separates these services. Setting the threshold according to your installed RAM can group more services together and significantly reduce the number of processes shown in Task Manager. How to change it: 1. Press Win + R 2. Type: regedit 3. Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control 4. Find: SvcHostSplitThresholdInKB 5. Open it and select Hexadecimal. Use the value for your RAM: 4 GB → 400000 8 GB → 800000 16 GB → 1000000 32 GB → 2000000 64 GB → 4000000 128 GB → 8000000 6. Restart your PC. This does NOT magically give you more FPS. The main benefit is fewer separate Windows processes and potentially slightly lower background overhead. Windows normally separates services for better stability, so create a restore point before changing Registry settings. #Windows11 #GamingPC #PCOptimization #WindowsTips #fpsboost
