I am currently writing a high fantasy novel and this gives me things to think about. Monotheistic religion exists but not exactly the same as in our real world. Because when I was thinking about the basic lore something I decided early on is if there's a goblin in your house you can ask the priest to bless your house or exercise it and it'll go away. Like that is just a common enough occurrence. and more relevant to the narrative something that happens early on is a witch tries to bind away an evil spirit in a weapon and he circumvents this by making it so that the weapon basically will and must be used by someone eventually and when that happens he'll gain enough power to return.
