@worldwidenewz: A massive floating island covered in trees was spotted drifting across Williston Lake in northern B.C., creating a bizarre sight for people in the area. The island appeared in satellite imagery on July 21, but by August 5, it was no longer visible in satellite data, leaving questions about where it ended up. Floating islands can form when sections of shoreline containing soil, vegetation and intertwined roots break away and remain buoyant enough to drift across the water.
