On Saturday, 27th June 2026, in a bold demonstration of unwavering commitment towards achieving a drug-free society, the visionary, dynamic, and results-oriented Bauchi State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), CN Hassan Yaqub, approved and blessed a major joint general raid operation involving NDLEA operatives and personnel of the Nigerian Army. The operation targeted identified drug hotspots within Bauchi metropolis and the Soro area of Ganjuwa Local Government Area. Soro is considered one of the most notorious hubs for illegal drug activities in Bauchi State. The operation reflects the State Commander’s renewed energy, strategic direction, and commitment to combating illicit drugs through a robust, intelligence-led approach. Under the leadership of Commander of Narcotics Hassan Yaqub, the Bauchi State Command has continued to strengthen its fight against drug trafficking and substance abuse by combining proactive enforcement strategies with community engagement, public awareness, and effective collaboration with sister agencies and relevant stakeholders. These coordinated efforts are aimed at dismantling criminal networks, disrupting illicit drug supply chains, and reducing the menace of drug abuse at the grassroots level across the state. The high-impact operation was led by a dedicated officer, Chief Superintendent of Narcotics (CSN) Saminu Usman Bello, whose exceptional competence and professionalism were evident throughout both daytime and nighttime operations with strong support from the focused and highly committed Superintendent of Narcotics (SN) Shehu A. Lawal, alongside other senior operational personnel whose professionalism and commitment contributed immensely to the success of the exercise. During the successful operation, the total of (15) suspects were arrested out of which 13 males and 2 females, while various assorted illicit substances including tramadol Capsules, Diazepam tablets, Exol-5 tablets suspected to be psychotropic substances and cannabis concealed inside polythene bags and other dangerous items such as knives were recovered. The suspects, exhibits, and dangerous items recovered during the operation have been taken to the NDLEA Bauchi State Command Headquarters, off Jos Road, Bauchi, for thorough investigation and necessary legal action. The operation was conducted with the highest level of professionalism and tactical precision, with no casualties or operational losses recorded. In line with NDLEA commitment to transparency, the exercise was professionally covered by O/C Press Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics (ASN) Mutual Garba, who provided thorough photographic and video documentation. All personnel and logistics returned safely to base, demonstrating seamless excursion by the dedicated operatives. This commendable achievement further underscores the unwavering determination and commitment of the Bauchi State Command, under the astute and visionary leadership of CN Hassan Yaqub, remains unwavering in its commitment to sustaining aggressive, intelligence-led, and result-driven operations across the state.
