hot take as an indigenous avatar fan: most people (NOT all) who hate on Not lowkey act ignorant and dont fully understand the storyline surrounding the TAP residential school. im not saying he's completely right for involving two other members in his quest to get revenge but be so serious that given the opportunity you also wouldn't get rid of the person responsible for the death of your entire family and clan, the cruel abuse they have done to you and your remaining clan member as young children and CONTINUE to terrorize you once you've finally escaped only to find out that the one "nice" teacher was actually completely responsible and complicit in your 15 years of trauma and abuse. idk it always rubbed me the wrong way the way the fandom treats and talks abt Nor when I find him very relatable as someone who has old family members that have survived residential schools in real life that still majorly affects them as functioning adults and elders.

I think Nor was right about Alma, but other resistance members wasn't that bad even when they was in rda and didn't know about sarentu kids,so I think it was a bad way to justice. But I really like how game showing how different people living with one trauma. Nor aggressive not only to humans, but to himself too, feeling shame for being not normal na'vi. It's really a symptom of complex PTSD

And she never planned to go back 😭 she was going to leave them there. And for how much she says she wants to be their mom and mentor, she can’t even pronounce their names right 😭 she says Teylan’s name just like Mercer did

“B-but…she didn't know what was going to happen to Sarentu, she just-just wanted her school😭 Because she wanted to learn from the Na'vi; she never wanted to harm them" Shut up and play it again; gather Alma’s audio clips or messages, and read and listen to what she really thought about the TAP. She never regretted HER school; she abandoned those kids for fifteen fucking years because she knew that if the truth came out, it would be the end of her

Nameless Hero is the father :
She was sorry only because it failed. Like obviously she was horrified at what happened to the clan, but her fear of the consequences overshadowed the guilt and whatever love she had for the Sarentu. She constantly tried to justify what happened because accepting the truth would mean accepting she was a monster and that she was wrong. She only accepts this in the FTA DLC (mentioned in her entry), but the fact is, she never would've come clean had Priya not heard about the signal.

What hurts me even more is this is in the 2100s. Meaning Residential schools are literally their history same as ours. Alma probably had that in history class in school and still decided to do exactly the same thing.

I hate that it forces you to do the "I see you" gesture at the end of the main game. WHO SEES YOU COS I KNOW I DON'T I CHOSE NOT TO FORGIVE YOU

🏹 💙 ~🪼 M 🪼 ~ 💙 🏹 :
It was her idea Mercer just had the materials, skills and “vision” to put it together. If it was truly something she regretted the second the humans left and Pandora was safe she would have returned or at least told someone. If that signal hadn’t come in they wouldn’t have been found and Alma could continue to hide her skeletons. And she’d be punished, she wasn’t worried for her “students” she was was worried she would face the consequences of what she did to them. It makes me think, did the RDA do this to any other Na’vi and if so were/are they still lost with no one to remind the world they are alive or that they existed at all?

God Alma is such a well written character, I love her so much. She's so interesting and I really wish we got more conflicting characters in the franchise

This is exactly why I always say Nor is completely justified in his hatred for her, its surprising how many people hate him, as the victim and not alma, as the abuser

I think Alma didn't know it would be a massacre, but she did know it wouldn't be sunshine and rainbows, and the part of her that knew that is who she tried to suppress. She wants to make things better and feels guilty, but in trying to do so she involves herself in ways she shouldn't which causes backlash. She was a part of something bad, yes but she was a cog in the machine. she's flawed, but not a monster.
