@joeymcintyre022: I have to be reminded again and again that l've had the gift of writing music over the last 4 (4??) decades. One can not quantify, in my estimation, the value of playing songs you've written in front of people and having those people know those songs and having those song mean something to those people. What's really sweet is I can play a few of them on the piano. I leave the hard stuff to the musical director. But I think a plunk from the songwriter gets an upgrade to "pretty good". This one is #Supergirl. Wrote it 24 years ago- shit! With my dear friend Emanuel Kiriakou. We've written a bunch over the years. And a handful of them feel like my "standards": Easier, Own This Town. When I perform them they feel so solid and I'm grateful for that. I was on the road recently and I turned as I was singing a line from Own This Town and a teenage girl was singing the lyrics with me and I couldn't sing the next line because well... emo. Supergirl is special for a lot of reasons, not to get to heavy but there was one Supergirl who told me she listened to it non-stop during her chemo treatments. Gosh that's dramatic but music... it's magic. And I'm lucky to have the privilege to get the wand out and wack it every which way to get something out of it. One more spell, one more wave of vulnerability #to crack us open. Oh, and algorithm be darned- I know this is 4 minutes long and it won't get to as many people blah blah blah... it will find those who need to find it. Also- this is one take, no special mic, no mix. If I get too fancy about it, I'll never post it. So here it is. #music #live #songwriter
