Just in case anyone cares a deductible is basically the max you have to pay out of pocket each year

Do you really not know what a deductible is? It’s the amount you pay out of pocket before your coverage kicks in. So, for example, my dog has a $750 and 75% coverage with his pet insurance . So if his bill is $1000, I pay $750 out of pocket, then they cover 75% of the remaining $250, so I still owe another $62.50. Then, if he has another incident on the same issue, it continues to be covered at 75% but I don’t pay deductible again. If it’s a totally new problem, deductible is back to $750). If I wanted I could have a lower deductible, but it would have lower coverage ($500, 50% coverage). That sometimes costs less monthly, but also covers less if it’s an ongoing issue.

PPO is definitely better! Something I learned the hard way is instead of asking your doctors “do you take x insurance” ask if they’re contracted with your insurance! Then you don’t pay out-of-network charges!! 🙏

a deductible is how much you pay out of pocket at the appointment, i think! so if ur deductible is like, $500, and then you go to the doctor, you'll pay $500 up front!

If my understanding is correct, deductible is how much you have to pay before they will start paying for anything

Wow, in belgium we pay 90€ per YEAR!! We call it: mutualiteit. It’s basically a health insurance fund, but it’s part of Belgium’s social security system rather than a private insurance company. Which already covers A LOT of the medical bills.

PPO is better just more expensive. HMO you need a referral for like EVERYTHING. And if you don’t get a referral before seeing a specialist you are liable 😅

If it helps you take it better, we europeans have that €€€ or way more than 600€ removed from our monthly salary to pay for universal healthcare so… take it as if you were paying your european universal healthcare? 💁🏽♀️

Deductible is what you pay out of pocket first before insurance will pay. $500 deductible. You pay the first $500 out of pocket then insurance pays at a % that you chose. Higher the deductible, less the premium.
