A dirty filter over time can cause a dirty throttle body (along with pcv which is more important) Which can cause numerous other issues that may not throw a code. But are obnoxious. Like rpm not coming down, etc. same goes for cabin filter. Not only are you breathing moldy bug air but also it can effect your air flow and makes your blower motor work overtime and it fails.
