The office I currently work in (last day with the company is this Friday, thank god) has a cleaner, but we are responsible for cleaning appliances in the kitchen. It is a small office of 10-15 people with a few women. The men never clean it, and me and the other women were sick of cleaning up behind them, so we brought up the issue. We were told “why do you think we hire women?” And somehow they’re confused as to why I’m leaving.

As an office manager I completely agree! The office is a reflection of so many aspects of the company. I maintain a beautiful office and fight for good amenities. We get things fixed fast when they break. And you know what? People actually like coming into our office.

The bathroom situation at work makes me hate the office. Not to mention, my manager wants to joke around that we should all just quit and talks about how much she hates it there. The morale is LOW.

My last in-office job was in a gross old building that smelled awful and had a humidity issue from the HVAC not working right. I HATED it even though the job itself wasnt bad at all.

100% that’s the Starbucks way! Starbucks corporate acts like employee morale isn’t a thing and like it just shouldn’t be a thing all together. It feels like they get annoyed at the idea of making anything better for the employment experience at the stores. Anything that doesn’t increase profit or effects the customer experience is completely ignored unless it also helps corporate customers reach their goals in some way

My office floor has been cleaned thoroughly 3 times.. I’ve been there 23 years. The refrigerator was last cleaned about 5 years ago when me and a coworker cleaned it.. civil servant 🤷🏽♀️

My previous employer had no fridge cleaning policy and they only had cleaning staff come in twice per week. It was so gross.
