I moved to a home on a cul-de-sac last year and didn’t realize I’d joined a lil existing community. It’s lovely tbh. Love feeling like I’m part of something.

Community and knowing your neighbors is obvs very important. I’m always hesitant now because I’ve had quite a few not great neighbors. I was getting to know my last neighbor (directly next door) until she tried to get me to commit mail fraud and the verbally assaulted me when I refused… luckily I moved lol

The challenge is that we treat our housing as a primary wealth store and growth mechanism. When we treat it as a house, a utilitarian commodity to extract wealth from versus a home where people build lives in it cheap in entire experience. This means people treat houses as transactional and commodities why invest in neighbors and community when it’s just a line item on your investments. Make houses homes!
