@sapphael: The use of the phrase “fanfic” at the beginning is also total clickbait/ragebait, sorry guys. To be fanfic, something would have to be written subsequent to the original text, & a lot of apocrypha were written pretty close in time or even contemporary with the canon Bible. Someday I’m going to get into the Gospel of Mary Magdalene stuff but I’ll need time to really get into it. *I edited this vid and reposted because I said that most protestant bibles have 80 books which is COMPLETELY wrong lol, I was thinking of the original KJV. #History #bible #medieval #religion #educational

I’ve never heard about Mary’s perpetual virginity I grew up in a denomination that accepted the idea that Jesus had half siblings who were fathered by Joseph

Is Dante's Inferno ever included in the Apocrypha? It was certainly influential

small correction, and this is just me splitting hairs it's Deuterocanon, not Deuteronomy. that's a separate book in the Old testament.

I still just reel at the fact that a small group of men deem the knowledge in those 'books' is too much for the common person to understand. it's insulting

I remember when explaining to a friend what is apocryphal (because of an artwork in byzantin art about Marie and Joseph) and when he struggle I was like '' it's kinda like the Bible is the canon story, and the aprocryphal it's a spin-off but like a very popular spin-off into the ''fandom'' apocryphal about Marie have a looot of influence, and kinda the one About Joseph too because really I was shocked when the art History teacher was like '' no Joseph the Joseph of Marie, well he's already dead, so when Jésus die, Marie is alone'' I was like '' WHAT YOU MEAN HE'S DEAD'' and tried not to cry because it weirdly hit very hard

I understand you’re factually correct, but no one can tell me the Infancy Gospel of Thomas isn’t cannon lore. Jesus as a child was a ruthless m*rderer? Yes but it’s fine, he’s resurrected them, chill.

I wonder how likely someone’s religious fanfic today could be accepted as possible truth if they were able to make sure it would be preserved for several centuries and discovered later. I can think of several people who would try. 😬

To be extra confusing, the bits that Catholics have that us Protestants don’t (usually) is often referred to as The Apocrypha and the rest as apocryphal. But then Catholics refer to those books as the deuterocanonical books and the rest as apocrypha/apocryphal ones (which I gotta admit is clearer lol) A lot of modern churches use the revised common lectionary, which is good (my church also uses it), but it does leave stuff out so I wonder if you could make an argument for them being apocryphal too in a way

Chocolate Sourdough Bread 🍫 450 g bread flour 7 g salt 45 g sugar (I use brown sugar) 45 g cocoa powder (I use Dutch-processed) 1 tsp cinnamon 90 g ripe active sourdough starter 360 g water 120 g chocolate chips In a bowl, mix the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, and cinnamon. Add room-temperature water and the active sourdough starter, then knead the dough for about 5 minutes. Shape the dough into a ball, place it in a bowl, and cover with plastic wrap or a damp towel. Let the dough rest for 1.5 hours at room temperature. Then lift each side of the dough and fold it toward the center — repeat this process three times with 30-minute intervals. This helps develop gluten and makes the bread airy. During the second fold, add the salt and chocolate chips to the center and fold the dough. After another 30 minutes, do another fold as shown in the video. Thirty minutes later, after the third fold, lift the dough, let it stretch slightly under its own weight, and place it back into the bowl — repeat this three times with 30-minute intervals. After the final fold, wait 30 minutes, then transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and gently stretch it. Pull one side of the dough toward the center, then pull the opposite side toward the center, and roll the whole structure into a tight log (as shown in the video). Place the shaped dough into a flour-dusted proofing basket or bowl, seal all the edges, cover with a cotton towel, and place it in the refrigerator, preferably for 10–12 hours. Preheat the oven with a cast-iron Dutch oven and lid to 230°C (450°F). Transfer the bread onto parchment paper, make a deep score and a decorative pattern if desired. Place the bread into the hot Dutch oven, cover with the lid, and bake for 30 minutes. Then lower the temperature to 200°C (400°F), remove the lid, and bake for another 15–20 minutes. I check doneness with a thermometer: the internal temperature of the bread should be 97–98°C (206–208°F). This ensures the bread is fully baked without drying out. Let the bread cool completely before slicing ❤️
