Let's also assume that it was the landlord that involves a professional, why ask tenants to pay for their fee. what is Agreement fee? What is commission? please tell us what all this fee stands for and if it's legal?

Okay, quick one! I live in a property with 4 other occupants and the landlord. Our pumping machine developed a fault, and the landlord first hired technicians who tried to remove it but got it stuck. He paid them ₦150k 😂. He then hired another technician who successfully removed it and paid them ₦120k. The machine was beyond repair, so he bought a new one, paid for installation, and later asked each apartment to contribute ₦150k all without carrying us along beforehand. Three months later, he replaced the planks supporting the GP tanks, changed three tanks and some pipes, and is now asking each flat to pay ₦380k. My question is: aren’t the pumping machine repairs/replacement, tanks and related works considered structural/common-property repairs, which should ordinarily be the landlord’s responsibility? Or are tenants expected to contribute to these costs?

Nigerian 🇳🇬 law favors the tenant so much. Go to other African nations, you’re leaving the same day ur rent expired no be cap 🧢. They pay monthly and more expensive. There’s no gain in tenant house 🏠 in Nigeria 🇳🇬

What if the quit notice was as a result of rent increase, will the tenant pay the old amount for the period they were in court or the new increment amount?

Tell them the truth even if you are to pay the landlord the court will ask how much you can pay most tenants will say what they can pay monthly is 3000 they will scatter the money in your hand. Most landlords will just give up
