@newyorkcitykopp: 🍝🥂 New York City just got a little more New York. Mayor Mamdani signed legislation today making outdoor roadway dining permanent year round, and I’m a big supporter of this. Restaurants were previously required to tear down their roadway dining setups every winter and then build them all over again in the spring. That costs small businesses time, money and energy for absolutely no good reason. Outdoor dining has become part of the fabric of New York. It brings life to our streets, gives restaurants more room to survive and thrive, supports hospitality jobs, and, let’s face it, there are few things more New York than sitting outside with dinner, a glass of something, and watching the entire city walk by. 😂❤️ And there’s more to come. This November, New Yorkers will also vote on a proposal that would streamline the outdoor dining approval process, potentially cutting it from about eight months to two months and saving small businesses up to $1,800 in application costs. I like government when it does boring, practical things that actually make people’s lives easier. Less unnecessary red tape. More thriving neighborhood restaurants. More people enjoying our streets.
