It’s a data center bubble, in 1 year a local 27B model is smarter and faster then Frontier model was a year ago. All the math and loans were based on AI inference from 2 years ago that we will never need. The same happened with fiber build out during the dot com bubble. 80% of fiber companies went under and never paired back the loans. This time it’s the richest companies in the world who will swallow the cost.

Huawei is also building chips that are 1/4 the cost of Nvidia chips. And recently a company gave away 100T tokens per day for free to stress test the Chinese chips. The cost of tokens will come down

on a ddr3 --- 2012 MacBook Pro running 7b mistral. its not fast but it's free and local and my ddr4 gen workstation is very useful still. I love that they're trying but open source has my ❤️
