@thatrvtech: RV owners, removing old roof sealant isn’t as hard as some people make it out to be, but it’s one of the most important things to get right. It’s also one of those jobs that’s very easy to get wrong and can cost you a bunch of money and headaches if you do. There really isn’t an easy way around it. Removing old sealant properly is a tedious job, but doing it right means you shouldn’t have to come back and do it again anytime soon. Not every RV roof or situation will be as easy as the one you see here, and some will actually be easier. The important thing is to take your time, use the right tools, and remember that most shortcuts come with a risk that simply isn’t worth it. #rvtechnician #RVMaintenance #rvrepair #rvtips
It's so satisfying when you get one that pulls of all as one pc..

done that on my mom's camper when the wind broke the roof vent over bathroom. warm day is best time to do it so the sealant will come off the membrane easier and less likely to tear the membrane. if you can't fix it right away, I used gorilla tape on the cover to hold it down to its base and not stick it to the membrane on roof.

If the roof membrane does get torn or small whole, will caulk repair it or do I need a new roof or patch?
