At the start of 2024 I realized I had been living in toxic mold for 4 months. I had wrecked my hormones, finally experienced first hand the toll this takes on both your mental and physical health, and saw it as a massive reality check to slow down and listen to my body. It wasn’t a setback honestly, it was a slingshot forward. ➡️ We really are what we eat because food directly impacts our production of chemicals that dictate our mood, cognitive abilities…our whole experience every day. As a health coach, I already avoid several ingredients and have for years, but beyond that there are a few things I changed. When I slowed down to focus on how I was feeling after each meal I realized I felt my absolute best (no energy slumps midday, no reliance on coffee, happiest, most mentally present, most able to fall asleep and get my best sleep, etc.) while making these 5 changes: 🔹Always having a big breakfast (high in fat, high in protein, & two low GI fruits) 🔹Not having coffee until 2 hours after wake if at all 🔹Having meat only 1x per day 🔹Having three big meals rather than snacking 🔹Having a high carb (and high protein) meal for dinner and exercising right when I wake up the next morning (fasted, I guess, but not really because your body is utilizing the energy from those carbs the night before) ➡️ There are so many different diets because of people applying what worked for them and generalizing it. I realized that having meat go through my system 3x / day made me feel low energy bc my body is putting so much energy into digesting it. Some people don’t feel that… some will feel energy slumps if they have 3 big meals rather than 5 smaller ones! The point: you owe it to yourself to slow down and figure out what makes you feel your best and if you don’t know where to start, my dms are always a safe bet📈
