An American gave me a £2 tip and said, Split it between you and your colleague. Me and my colleague looked at each other, and we were both offended 😂 Not because it was £2, but because tipping isn’t generally expected in the UK in the same way it often is in the US. And then you want us to split £2 between the two of us 😭😂

Honestly, if I ever visit the USA… I shall NOT be tipping just because! I refuse to cover what employers SHOULD be covering. IF the service is exemplary and I’m moved to tip then okay.

In the US you’re paying the servers wages rather than showing appreciation for good service (which is what tipping SHOULD be about), but in Europe, we pay minimum wage, so tips are a ‘bonus’ and there’s no expectation, it’s appreciated rather than required.

I was tipping 10% on every drink i bought in vegas, because i knew tipping waz the culture. Some guy next to me told me that i was tipping too low, that i should be tipping 20%. It annoyed me so much i drunkenly berated him and then told him that because of him i won't be tipping anyone the rest of my trip 😂
