His extraordinary story inspired Steven Spielberg’s film The Terminal (2004). However, the film is only loosely based on his life: the protagonist, Viktor Navorski, played by Tom Hanks, is from a fictional country called Krakozhia and becomes stranded at New York’s JFK Airport after a political upheaval in his homeland renders his passport invalid, forcing him to remain inside the airport. #mehrankarimi #theterminal
