@defendsurvivors: California recently tried to pass a law to give adoptees our own birth certificates. No one opposed it but one legislator voiced concern about how the bill would affect ‘birth mothers’. The truth is many of our mothers were never promised anonymity nor asked for it. Many of our mothers have fought alongside adoptees because they want their children to have their basic rights. It’s infuriating that someone would use the very people harmed by this system to further promote the violation of our human rights to our own vital records. The only thing being protected is a multi billion dollar business - not mothers and children. #adopteerights #adopteevoices #birthcertificate #humanrights #adoption
