Juicero could be the good guy, instead of selling it like what they did to the general consumer in a markup price. Juicero could have targeted specific consumer groups with a real functional need, instead of the common general consumers. The strongest targets would have been people who value convenience because of a constraint: the elderly, people with limited hand strength or mobility, people recovering from injury, etc.

The machine also needed a Wi-Fi connection to work and if your packs or even a few minutes out of date it would refuse to squeeze them. The juice packs wore also obnoxiously expensive.

The whole point was to juice the customers by selling them overpriced juice packs with DRM, not the juice squeezing itself. They failed cuz it was too obvious, too stupid even for the most dumbest consumers.
