This is why we’re building 6-10 tiny houses (400 sqft) on our property, it’s going to be for my local widows (and myself) to move to. We (my local elder ladies) can’t do the upkeep on our paid off homes on acreages alone but we don’t want to leave our friends and the community we’ve built. Plus the bills will be significantly less than our 2000 sqft homes.

I wish people were more confident using community resources! If you’ve cut all you reasonably can, using resources like your public library and local food pantry can really help with making ends meet. I used a food pantry during a brief period of unemployment, and while I still needed to pick up some essentials at the store, it really helped us make our savings stretch till we found new jobs.

My local butcher does a weekly bundle of meats that they have an abundance of at a discount. I use it as a my own version of "chopped"...what can I make with that bundle and what's in the pantry/freezer.

So I don't know your situation aside from what was posted on this video but I can tell you that giving up a car payment is one of the best decisions I made. I had to return the car to finance company and find one on Marketplace. It took my husband about six weeks but we found a van for half the cost of the street value of the car we were paying $600 a month for. So my advice: ditch the car if you can and find a used one for sale by owner. Easier said than done, but worth it. I took a credit hit, but at this point, it's worth it.

The local food banks and free meal distribution popups are available. They are designed to help people on purpose, and there’s no shame. Utilize every resource available to you.

Food pantry. I know people can feel some kinda way about it but it will end up in a landfill and is meant for people that need it, whoever they may be

Shop your pantry each week and use grocery delivery services, while they cost a subscription there is so much saved by not walking through the store picking up items with no direction for meals for the week. Plan meals with items you already have, buy pantry staples that you can always make things from scratch with.

Not sure what SSDI is, but could you use a food pantry? I agree about cutting the car payment somehow unless it’s almost paid off.
