The savor is definitely the better card, 3x on food, groceries and entertainment, 8x on entertainment via capital one entertainment portal, hertz status, price matching on trips via the portal and Mastercard concierge all for no annual fee is crazy plus the capital one shopping portal always has points bonuses of 10x 15x 20x.

Venture X alongside the Savor Card is absolutely the perfect Duo for me. It pays for itself, and those two cards perfectly fit my daily spending habits. I'm thinking about adding the Chase Sapphire Preferred later.

Savor > for single/young couples without families especially those that dont live in big cities where they are eating out regularly. Amex Gold > for families with kids and large grocery bills and dining bills and people in expensive cities that do a lot of dining out.

I can’t argue with this, except for the fact that Amex travel partners are better and Rakuten can supercharge points accumulation on the gold card

I've been telling people about the AMEX hype and tell people the savor is so much better and it's free like you said people just want the gold just cause it's hype. I don't understand it.
