@laceychabert35: An encounter with Morgan. The orca female that has been fiercely disputed over for years. Morgan was found in the Netherlands in 2010, emaciated and dehydrated. She was supposed to come to @loroparque “temporarily” to be nursed back to health. A short time later she was doing better, but she was never released back into the wild. When I visited Loroparque, she was heavily pregnant and had to take part in the loud shows twice a day. Inclusing jumping onto the concrete platform with her big baby bump and sliding over it. She hardly has any choice: no tricks, no food. By now she has been in a swimming pool for 15 years. She has forgotten how to catch live fish and her hearing is impaired. Her first calf was born with a deformed head and died at the age of 3.💔 Morgan will probably not be able to communicate properly with her new calf either, and that will lead to frustration. Morgan will never see freedom again, but she could be given a dignified end of life by being moved to a prepared sea bay (sanctuary). There are fantastic, new concepts for such rescue facilities for orcas and dolphins from dolphinariums. The most important thing until one day it might happen is: BREEDING has to end and the SHOWS. And WE have to make sure that no one goes there anymore. I stood with Morgan for a long time and she stayed there the whole time, imitating my head movements. I had the feeling she was looking straight into my soul and knew why I was there. 😔💔 You can find the argument with me and the owner of Loroparque in the current @ZEIT and online
