My daughter kept forgetting her key to the house, I was on her, over and over, we would even have the office open the door for her on like two occasions, finally I had the end of it, she messaged talking about she forgot her key and how sorry she was, I said sit your ass by the front door and no you can’t ask the office open it for you. I had two hours of work left. I got home and she was sitting on the steps, she never forgot her key again lmao!

I listened to my wife & our son (13) bicker/negotiate for 5 minutes last night about bedtime...I finally walked into the room, "both of you shutup, and YOU go to bed like she told you 5 minutes ago." DONE, not another word. it's exhausting

Also as harsh as it may sound, stature is a big reason. Dad is bigger and has a deeper voice than mom.

Same with punishment. Mom breaks before the kid does.

You just defined the mental load. The mental load is nothing more than enabling behavior that should be left for the child to learn from.

You're not wrong. And let me offer a little bit more insight on that point. I am the other mom. The one that will not bring the jacket to the kid! When you're that kind of mom, the kids call you mean. They expect the discipline from the dad, but they don't expect it from the mom. And when they talk to their friends and find out that all their moms are pushovers, I am always the bad guy. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.😊

Problem is 80% of kids only see their dad on the weekends if at all. Thats why society if failed

Kids generally act up more with the person they feel the safest with. So yes, dads are far more likely to do something but kids are far more likely to see mom as their safe place. So apples and oranges.

This is why both parents are important. Moms want to nurture but it’s not always the answer. Dads are supposed to reign the mom’s emotional response in. I am guilty of it and my husband says boys need to learn through consequences. I’ve learned to step back even though it hurts my mom heart sometimes 😭🤣

Then the dad gets labeled as "mean" and the kids end up being useless and helpless. Then he gets blamed by society for being a "bad Dad" when he was hamstringed by the Mom the whole time.

People (acquaintances and friends or family) will ask a question directed to my son (5, 6, 7 yrs old) and she’ll start answering it. I’ll stop her. No. Let him speak for himself. He has a voice. Our daughter, the same.

My wife says: why do the kids talk to me so badly? My reply: Because that’s how you speak to them, I don’t talk to them like that… needless to say that didn’t go well

My ex would get mad at me because the kids always listened and respected me but they wouldn’t with her. But every time I would try to enforce consequences on her behalf she would go right behind me and undermine me.

Saw a video on here where a burglar broke into a home occupied by a woman and her daughter. The mom luckily had a gun and stopped the robber. Did the mom call the police or demand the burglar to leave? No! She continued to ask the robber questions such as “who are you and why are you here”. The robber realized the mom wasn’t going to do anything rushed her took the gun and killed her in front of the daughter before leaving. Every situation does not call for a conversation.
