@ciaracera: Scientists can’t explain this mystery…. Just outside Mexico City, this massive ancient city is home to the Pyramid of the Sun, Pyramid of the Moon and Avenue of the Dead. Teotihuacan was already centuries old when the Aztecs encountered it, and to this day, archaeologists still don’t know exactly who founded the city, what its original inhabitants called it, or exactly why it declined. Excavations have uncovered tunnels, ritual sacrifices, elaborate murals and evidence of a huge, sophisticated city with trade connections stretching across Mesoamerica. And there is still SO much left to discover. Then, of course, there are the alternative theories…. Claims that Teotihuacan is dramatically older than conventional archaeology suggests have circulated for years and it’s VERY easy to fall down the rabbit hole. (Ya’ll I made this mostly for fun don’t get mad) 📍 Zona Arqueológica de Teotihuacán, Estado de México, Mexico About 30 miles / 50 km northeast of Mexico City If you’re looking for things to do in Mexico City, ancient ruins in Mexico, Mexican history, archaeological sites, or an unforgettable day trip from CDMX, Teotihuacan is absolutely worth seeing in person. #mexicotravel #cdmx #travel #ancienthistory #historyfacts

Teotihuacan was a water city with artificial canals and lakes. Mica is water, heat, and electrical resistant. It used to be home to 200,000 people. It was a Floating Beautiful Island.

That’s impossible. It can’t be over 200,000 years old. People hadn’t even left Africa over 200,000 years ago.

“But how’d they do that?” The same way we do now. Humans now, are identical to humans 2000 years ago. With the same capacity for learning, creativity, and mental ability. They developed mathematics and engineering exactly to the level needed to build what they did.

If anyone wants a simple answer, Teotihuacán was abandoned way before the Mexicas (aztecs) arrived, the name Teotihuacán means “the city of the gods” because the first Mexica settlers were astonished how massive this already abandoned city was, the city was inhabited by the Otomi, Totonacs, Zapotecs, Mixtecs, and some Mayans, it was abandoned due to either natural disasters, revolts, or wars
