Whole episode was some peak. Racial stuff is not an issue. The issue is his parents flat out agreed to ruin his life to escape racial depravity. Could he not become a doctor ? Astronaut? nothing? We're just cooking our sons childhood based on aliens we don't know or understand ?

It just annoys me how bad the pacing is, we shouldve gotten this backstory in the first episode then episode 2 is the actual introduction plus all events from episode 1, then episode 3 shouldve been episode 2. If not the show shouldve dropped sll at once because im not sitting here to watch the green lanterns show be basic street cop level shit and petty squables over a ring. I get its probably paralax but its still kinda boring. The writing is good but this is more of an action series like reacher with magic instead of green lantern

The fact that people can’t understand this and only see it at “woke slop” or “why make Hal a bad guy” like this is not setting up for parallax🤦🏾♂️. And everything about race is flawed, episode shows multiple times that his parents are flawed. complaining cause it’s precious Hal😭

It’s honestly so annoying cause it really takes the bare minimum of IQ to realise the nuances in these projects. Speaking of Hal, Parallax is a certainty, something about the way he lowkey looked frustrated after he snapped at John before he flew away makes it feel like he didn’t even mean to snap like that.

people need to really learn what it means to have complex characters before trying to understand topics like these. Like how the show talks about, people receive the gift of privilege and can make the dumbest take due to not even being put certain areas or having those experiences

I like how the Stewart family hates Hal and believes he was chosen due to white privilege it sets it up for John to be able to see for himself how wrong his family is about Hal hopefully we see John grow a relationship with Hal before parallax happens to make it harder on John

I think it’s pretty clear throughout the show that the Guardian are wrong about how they view fear. John’s mum just called that out in the context of being a black man in America. Fearlessness is not a positive trait, Hal is only fearless because he’s selfish, and John is only fearless because he’s emotionless. John’s mum is right about the Guardian
